A MESSAGE FROM AUGIE'S WIFE, JEANNIE:

Thank you all for your outpouring of love and support during the past few weeks. Your heartfelt messages have meant so much to me. Augie loved his family and friends, and was especially proud of his players, their careers, and the men they have become.

It’s truly astounding how many lives Augie touched, but I know that he would say that it was he who was blessed to have been your coach, teacher, mentor and friend. The world lost a little magic with his passing.

I am heartbroken, but extremely grateful for the life that we built together and the many relationships that have enriched it. Without a doubt, I know I now have my own personal angel. He will be looking out for us all.

I encourage you continue sharing your thoughts, stories, photos and favorite “Augieisms” to this page. It would be so meaningful to me to hear about how he impacted your life.

We will be honoring Augie with a Celebration of Life at the Erwin Center in Austin, April 9th, at 2 p.m. It will be open to the public. There will also be a service in Orange County, CA in the near future. Details will be announced on this page at a later date.

You can continue Augie's legacy by making a contribution in his memory to the Neighborhood Longhorns Program. He valued education and worked with the organization to start the "Augie's Grand Slam Reading Program". All contributions will help provide educational opportunities for local students.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

Much love to you all,

Jeannie Grass
